Well, this was back in the olden times, so it was probably just ATA and had to be configured by jumpers.

Łódź of snow: (Łódź, Poland) BTW, the pun doesn't really work as it's pronounced more like Woudsch.

If you showed a picture of a number of snow covered airplanes at their airport it would probably work though!

the last two photos you posted, Calapine! The Lodz one - I like the symmetry but it would also be an excellent reference for cartography. Same for the second photo but I think the angle adds an unreal aspect. At a quick glance, the water almost looks like sky which makes those other ships look like they are flying.

Damn, drove by Lodz many times on my way to other locations, but never actually stopped to stay/visit the city during my tour in Poland. Bummed about that. :(

Not quite as awesome as the last pictures, but since it's from Austria and I am contractually obliged to shill for my country:

(click image for full res) Welcome to Coruscant, make sure all Wookies are up to date on their distemper vaccinations and be careful retrieving Droids from the overhead bins as contents may have shifted during flight.

Welcome to Coruscant I was gonna go with Barad-Dur. For that you need the black hole photo from the space thread: And only now do I see I should have added a red tint to the clouds. Too lazy to re-do.

Those gun turrets look small in comparison to the rest of the ship as a whole. And they are really huge in their own right.

A lot of that width are the torpedo bulges they added to the ship.

"I am not fat, just big boned" Sure... (You are right of course) Here is an earlier image that looks to be pre-buldge: Also see:old-school lattice masts. By that the ship still should have had a total of 4 torpedo tubes (one each bow/stern port/starboard-side) but I cant see them.

Gonna guess it's the flat roof of one of the buildings after some rain.

Not a roof, but concrete ground. Else correct, the aftermath of a rain shower. Rain is very rare there, one of the reason it was chosen as location.

For a second I thought that might be a tall ship sailing through San Francisco Bay; that street scene could easily be somewhere on Russian Hill in the vicinity of Aquatic Park. The north bay would be a lot further back in the background, though. I got to take a sail on this ship (the Lady Washington) last time she was in town:
