The Great Games Experiment is a social networking site designed to let gamers, developers, and publishers mingle together in a site designed specifically for their needs. From rating, voting for, and linking games you play, to creating GGTags for your own games, to (in development) being able to publish your own games directly to the internet with an extremely "soft" publishing agreement, GGE was designed from the ground up to help gamers find the games they want to play. Anyone can submit, rate, review, or simply play any game they wish...if it's not there yet, be the first to talk about it! If you find it interesting, or even just want to help out GG, please feel free to Digg it!.

I wonder if this will have any effect on game software? I mean, if publishers get feedback from here will it affect the quality and types of games coming out?

Well, I know for the independent dev level we certainly hope it will be. One of the future development plans is to have two concepts that integrate directly with our engines: --One Button Publish to GGE: all of our engines are adding in functionality to allow you to package and export a downloadable to the site that gamers can purchase directly, with royalties automatically distributed to the game developer based on which contract option they select. For projects in development, you also will have the ability to publish to a private group (keep in mind this is still in design, so mechanics will probably change) of testers, and they can then download your latest version directly. --improved metrics: Developers can already browse through categories and identify what gamers like about certain games, and/or dislike. Hopefully in the future, we'll have more measurable criteria (very similar to the spread sheet of game features that Taz mentions, so that users can have even better metrics to browse and review games.

The account/content editing UI is a little confusing. For example, why does my quote get cut off in my tag?
Perhaps you want to lay out the 'games I play' box a little better? A left-to-right space-separated list can get a little confusing, since the titles run together. Maybe break it onto multiple lines or put some kind of delimiter between titles?

How do I activate modules? How do I switch from for example gamer to developer after account creation? Have you considered some of the more sophisticated editing software? For example tinyMCE
I think the basic concept is pretty good, even if I for the moment don't see any reason to revisit the site. I'm not intrested in the whole MySpace deal.
