Yea, I just made a birthday thread to myself.

Pictures of my gift should be up around 9pm Arizona time. Friend and I split it.

This is something different. This is actually a split between one of my best friends and I. The other thing, ironically, is going to get paid for by someone buying a domain name from me.

Sure, it's a domain name I hadn't planned on selling, but shit, she's offering way too much to say no.

Apparently the  joint gift was so cool that they haven't had time to post a pic.

Or, it was a joint, and the anti-drug ads are right about that shit making you lazy.

I traded in my fun blog for several legal blogs. Or, "blawgs," as the cutesy attorney blawgosphere likes to call 'em.

There's the top. The marquee is in perfect shape. I need to get a light put in behind it.

Here's the monitor. It's got zero burn-in (nearly new). The glass, however, has issues. Easy as hell to replace. Will probably replace with something more light weight and less glary though. Also, something that fits correctly. I tore the art out that was behind it because it looked like shit.

No pictures of the joystick panel yet, I'm replacing all the buttons with Happ competition stuff - they're sitting in a bag next to the machine. I was too busy drinking tonight to get that done. The buttons are in the standard Capcom 6 button layout.

And here's two pictures of the other games I acquired from the guy I purchased the cab from:

There's a lot of work yet to be done, but the cab itself is in much better shape than I'd expect given the coin counter has 77,000+ on it. Also, no cigarette burns on the unit... yet.

And let me just say, that there's NOTHING like playing an arcade machine. NOTHING. Game designers - despite knowing that arcades are all but dead in America - should really get themselves a NeoGeo MVS (my next purchase) or CPS-2 unit.

Edit: Before you ask, let me say, yes, I got it on the cheap.

Edit 2: Yes, I think the guy who sold the unit to me stole the monitor off the set of Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaazil.

Very cool, big ++grats on the aquisition and not being dead for one more year.

Darkstalkers was a way underrated game, nice pickup.   Is that one of the multi-game arcades, or will you have to swap chips to play it?

Agreed about Darkstalkers.  I have never seen it in any but one arcade (the cinema at which I was the manager :) ) but I was addicted like crack to that thing.

Those blue things are giant cartridges. Once I get this thing cleaned up a bit more I'll be posting a lot more pictures. Essentially, a CAPCOM CPS-2 game is made up of two parts, the A Board and the B Board. The A Board has the outputs and system information on it, the stuff that stays the same through each game. It gets bolted to the arcade machine. The B Board is the game itself. It sits on top of the A Board and get's tighted on it with two metal fasteners. It's really quite amazing. I say amazing because it's so fucking simple. I don't know how many of you have ever read into arcade hardware before, but it makes home consoles look unoptimized.
