I hated my old house on Halloween. It was in a valley essentially, probably 10 blocks of flatness in a hilly area... Everyone drove to the flatlands and trick-or-treated there.

First year we went through 12 bags of candy. Been 6 or 7 the last few years.

I'm guessing we get 2 or 4 trick or treaters max this year.

We got 0!!!! I love my 150 foot driveway of darkness.

Her yearly quota of cute little girls in princess outfits is filled.  I swear if we ever have a female child, her Halloween costumes will be a rotation of Disney princesses.

This right here is one of my worst fears.  My wife, huge Disney freak.  Poor girl will wind up rebelling just to get the damn tiara off her head.  "Why don't you dress like Jasmine today dear?"

Good God.

I miss Halloween. Been living in apartments the last few years, so we haven't had trick or treaters at all.

Some of the office dressed up - best costume prize went to a guy from QA dressed as the Blue Screen of Death.

I went curling. We won. Ate lots of jubejubes.

left the front of the house dark and no one bothered us at all.
One would think that would work. After all, if the lights are off, then don't bother right? Well, we always have a bit of fun with Halloween, some decoration, hand out candy the usual ballyhoo. But we wanted to have dinner before the kids headed out to terrorize the neighbors. So the front half of the house is dark, and we sit down for dinner, and the doorbell rings.

Ignore it

Keep eating for about a minute, then the doorbell rings again.

Ignore it.

Well, evidently the sugar kicked in because whomever it was started spazzing out with the doorbell seeing how fast they could ring the fucker.

They were gone by the time I returned with the shotgun.

I still think it would have been justifiable homicide.

The rest of the evening went great though - about 100 kids stopped by - AFTER we turned on the lights and lit the pumpkins.

Halloween always falls around the Georgia/Florida football game, so I don't really get to treat it seriously anymore. On the other hand, I get to go down to Jacksonville for the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party. Tradeoffs.
