It's even funnier when you know the movie industry is just fucking itself.

This project would only be successful if the dogs could find pirated DVDs, but obviously they can only find DVDs... period.

I've never seen a pirated DVD or a terrorist. I do know how to find "pirated" (shared) music, but if I actually downloaded it, I'd be spending twice as much on CDs every year....so go go RIAA (I spend about $1k/yr on CDs)! Dumbasses.

It bugs me sometimes that I'm spending the same for a 1930s blues disc where all the artists and engineers are dead that I'll pay for the new Mars Volta disc. That's greedy.

the new Mars Volta disc.

You son of a bitch.... Got me all excited when you said that but they don't have anything newer than Frances or Scab Dates still. For a second I thought they had put out another cd already.

Sorry :) I wish they'd play somewhere closer, they're on a couple great tours this year. I /really/ want to catch them live. I heard ATDI from outside the soldout venue in Seattle years ago and it was amazing, moving to the new rhythm section was a great move.

Keep an eye out for a band called Particle as well. Check them out if you get the chance. They're not too popular yet so their shows are usually still really cheap ($5-$10 range). They're a bit more trance/techno compared to MV's metal but still a very good live show. Very cool to hear the usual synthesizer/sampled type music played on actual instruments.

Particle are cool. Oh, if you want to hear musicians play electro music that was composed on a sequencer, try LCD Soundsystem - I think I've mentioned them before. Their song "Losing My Edge" is pure Hornsby "High Fidelity" schtick.

If you like "nu prog" (I'm making this shit up, but its only a matter of time before a label gets slapped on them all) like Mars Volta, Tool, Porcupine Tree, Dredg, Blackfield, Muse (you know all these, right?) then give Pure Reason Revolution a spin.

I'm familiar with MV, Tool, and Muse but not the rest. Muse never really stuck with me, I'd rather pull out The Bends or OK Computer and give that a listen instead. I'll have to check out the others on your list.

Lately I've been stuck on Blue October's Foiled. It's the first cd that's really stuck with me since Frances and then Deloused. I've also been cycling through a lot of the new-pop-punk crap for some reason. IE... Panic at the Disco, Arctic Monkeys, Jack's Mannequin, Kaiser Chiefs, Fall out Boy, Hawthorne Heights, Interpol, She Wants Revenge etc... It's like my musical tastes have regressed back to a high school level.

She Wants Revenge etc...

Haha, to me they sound so like Joy Division its almost criminal. I can hear the Bauhaus thing too, especially on the single Tear You Apart.

I listen to a bit of MV, and Tool was my favorite band for years.

Now I mostly listen to Buddy Guy, Muddy, Hound Dog Taylor, Johnny Winter, ZZ Top, that kind of stuff.

Just scored tickets to see Dickie Betts at the local brewery!

I caught Dickie at the House of Blues last year. He can still put on a good show. More bluesy than the usual Allman Bros stuff.

The next concert I have scheduled is a festival with Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie, Sonic Youth, She wants Revenge, and some others.

That shows still a while off though so I'll probably try to catch at least a few shows in between now and then. Claypool is coming to town next month so I might have to go check that out.
