BF2 modded by Islamic militants. Other fun stuff. Maybe they made the Oblivion nude mod, too.

Does this mean that the Department of Defense will make me the A of spades the next time I have high score on the MEC side in a BF2 round?

I wonder if they've modded America's Army yet?

I'd be interested to see this mod of BF2. I wonder if the narration is in Arabic or English, considering there's a number of different Arabic dialects and languages out there, and the fact that there are more computers in the West. Could be more like a "worm" type mod aimed at Western muslims, to get more people fired up to become home-grown terrorists like the London guys.

Sadly, the SP game probably has more depth than what EA shipped with..

I don't see a chart. Instead, I've got an invitation to buy BF2 next to the article :)

Turns out a BF2 player made a jihadist-themed FRAPS video using BF2 and a "when the Black Hawks came to my village" voiceover from Team America: World Police. It was intended as humour, but it has blown up into this Reuters story :)

That thread is quite funny - a Reuters reporter and a BF2-playing NBC reporter have posted, wanting to talk to SonicJihad:

[edit] and here is the BF2 video itself ...

But that's wrong. It's not Reuters at fault, except for missing the Team America quote. They merely reported what was presented to the US Congress. The Defence Dept and contractors seem to be those pwned. It's also not a hoax, it's just some guy's attempt at making a FRAPS video which he posted to a forum where his ID includes the word "jihad".

Playing video games leads to international terrorism, drug addiction, devil worshipping and communism and should be banned. Same goes for rock music and unwholesome literature. Our criminal institutions are full of little creeps like you who do wrong things... and many of them were driven to these crimes by a horrible force called MUSIC!

SonicJihad has done a really good interview (link in quote below) and is to be on ABC TV in the US next week.

For now enjoy and thanks everone!!!!!!!!

Trey Parker has blogged about it: www.treyparker.com and Watercoolergames has transcripts of the Congressional hearings where the video was used as an example of terrorists using videogames: www.watercoolergames.org

It's sad that Reuters is getting the blame around the Internet. They did nothing but report accurately on a Congressional hearing.
