So the round goes through his brain bucket, his skull stops it, but he knows the hat works now? I think I know that guy.

I am guessing the brain bucket probably helped slow the round enough so the old mk1 cranium could deflect the rest. Had he not been wearing a helmet I am guessing he would be planted in the ground now.

Obviously a ha><><0r. No way a head shot doesn't kill in BF2!

The human skull is pretty darn tough.  I worked in nursing homes way back when, and one of our residents was a kid who'd tried to kill himself by shooting himself in the head.  Fortunately for him, his skull largely deflected the point-blank shot and he didn't die.  Unfortunately for him, he still managed to get a brain infection as a result that left him pretty much a vegetable :P

The skull can take a rather impressive amount of punishment before opening up or fracturing.

That squishy stuff on the inside though? Not quite so much.

Well, the article said it was a "fragment" that did the damage....

Also, I'm just guessing here, but that "sniper's" rifle probably was not in mint condition.

Whenever I see the word "overwatch", I hear the next-turn sound effects from Fallout.

Funny, I hear the radio-static-beeping-ping noise that the faceless soldiers in HL2 make when you kill them

Heh, somebody's never heard a modem connect tone before. For me overwatch reminds me of Space Hulk for the PC.
