Thw wife and I really enjoy TV series on DVD. I have never watched a second of Alias. Is it worth trying? Should I bother with season 1 since these types of shows tend to improve a bit.

For the record, we loved seasons 1-4 of '24' and BSG and Firefly. I don't like CSI or NCIS or any of the police dramas on CBS.

I have never played WoW.

Watch season 1 and 2, they're quite good.  After that though...let me put it this way, after watching 4 seasons, I haven't watched any of the recent one.

Since you seem to like the shows that some of the others of us like, try and check out "The Shield" & "The Wire" for a couple of fresh takes on cop dramas.

You enjoyed season 3 of 24?  You may be broken.

Edit: As for Alias, I liked season 1.  I think the rest of the series is crap. Last season in particular made me roll my eyes enough to nearly detach my retina.

Alias is like a less addictive, even sillier 24. If you like 24 you may like it. For me all those shows are too eye-rolling for me to stand.

I wouldn't even compare it to 24. It was good up until uh, the end of LAST season. This season is balls.

And I loathe Lost.

I stopped watching Lost about the time Michael goes after the others while Sawyer flirts with Ultra-bitch in the cannibal crew.  Carrot on a stick stuff has to be done just right to really keep me going, and Lost...well, it lost that.

Loathe is a strong word but put me in the same boat.

I stopped watching the EXACT same time. Or an episode later. I hate it now.

Btw - I'll watch episode 17 from season 2 some day. It's directed by Darren Aronofsky \o/

As a matter of fact I swallowed one of these about two hours ago and the explanation is that it is, in fact, my hand.

I stopped watching a few episodes before the end of season 1. It was all just weak sauce to me. For flashbacks to be compelling I have to like the characters. Well, sorry boss, you didn't hire compelling actors. Darren Aronofsky can't even get me to watch more Lost.

I have no idea why you guys keep dogging Lost or its actors or writers. I have enjoyed the show from the get go, and the flashbacks too. I actually think they've done a damn good job skating the line between revelation and stringing you along.

I would find it hard for people who sat through three or four seasons of Alias to enjoy how they're handling Lost. Can we say one trick pony?

I find the character moments in Lost easily as enjoyable as any "over-arching plot" advancement.

Hang on, Lost has a season 2?

I haven't seen the first one, but had considered picking it up on DVD once the producers give up on the idea that I'm going to pay for 2 seperate dvd sets each of which cost about the same as I would normally pay for an entire season of a show.

But seriously, they are stuck on an island, you can't be stuck on the same island for more than 17 fricken hours of television.

You can when the entire show is based on the idea of deus ex machina.
