The Namco Tales series has been around since the SNES. It's always reached that level of "just above mediocrite" that any solid RPG does. No real reason to pick this up unless you're a hardcore RPG fan. Or at least, there's no real reason I can see at this moment. Nippon Ichi just announced the localization of Ar Tonelico though. That's good news. I'll comment on Legendia after I play it though. Oh, and this game has one of the worst titles. Ever.
I very much enjoyed Tales of Symphonia (I bought a GC just to play that initially) and it was one the few console RPGs I've actually finished (most I just play for 80 - 100 hours and then stop). That being said, Tales of Legendia looks like a step back in terms of gameplay compared to Symphonia so I'm undecided if I'll be picking it up. I was playing Dragon Quest VIII but the grind and boring combat caused me to stop playing before the end of the first major plotline.

Yea, I really wanted to continue on in Dragon Quest. But well, ugh. Every time I picked it up, part of me died. Instead I watched one of my roommates play through all the major parts. Took him 95 hours to do....everything. That's way too long. Some people think that's worth the money. I'd rather pay $50 for 8 hours of God of War than $50 for 95 hours of repetition. But then, I paid for both. /smack4head
I prefer DQVIII to Symphonia by a noticable margin. A big factor in that is my disgust with uncontrollable party members. I mitigate this in Tales of Symphonia by putting everyone on auto; this allows me to avoid having a stroke while playing since I can just ignore all combat, however it does mean I have to grind a lot. The story in ToS doesn't do anything for me and some of the characters annoy me. Also the spell system in Symphonia makes no sense to me. Sort of how the spell system in DQVIII confuses me except much less. I mean, in DQVIII why bother to separate Spells and Abilities?
I am just over 61 hours with DQVIII. Just started looking for some magic tree.
Why am I homeless? Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question. They called it The Prayer, its answer was law Mommy come back 'cause the water's all gone
I have forgotten to turn it off for days at a time and it seems it counts the minutes I'm gone... awww... how cute. I think it's probably over 200 hours but I have no idea how many I've played. I never even think of keeping track of that sort of thing. I left it running for 3 or 4 days straight without playing... maybe it'll explode!
