Kelowna -- A woman has admitted to duping her employer and co-workers out of thousands of dollars with an elaborate ruse about a fake illness.

Kendra Loughheed was working at a Home Depot store in 2003 when she showed up one day with a bald head, saying it was a side effect of chemotherapy treatments for cancer.

Ms. Loughheed even forged a doctor's note as part of the scam.

She has pleaded guilty to fraud over $5,000 and producing a forged document and will be sentenced in February.

Sympathetic workers shaved their heads and raised more than $5,000 to help the single mother with her living expenses.

Home Depot then matched the employee contributions. CP

That must've stung when they learned they shaved their heads for nothing. At least they can go bowling.
