Wikipedia is reporting that Richard Pryor died this morning of apparent cardiac arrest. CNN is reporting it as well. No other details yet.

Greatest comedian ever imo. I've been slowly building up a vinyl collection of his albums lately actually......He should have been here longer.

I really liked Richard Pryor back in the olden times.  After setting yourself on fire, however, I have a feeling death is a bit of an anti-climax.

I would think there are few more true examples of tortured genius.  I wish he'd had a kinder life, even if that meant his work would not have been so strong.

The man paid funney in ways funney has not been able to repay yet. Seeing him suffering from MS was just heart-wrenching. Whereever he is, I just hope he's been given his voice back, undiminished by the ravages of disease. I'm quite sure his hell was being trapped in an uncooperative body.

I kinda hope he is having coffee with Gilda and John, and all the while making the funny about the bush administration.

Silver Streak is one damn fine movie.

I loved the Pryor/Wilder comedies as a kid. I have to admit though, when I read the headline it suprised me a little as I thought he'd already died.
