CloudApp. Lifehacker review.

OS X Only.

Pretty neat, its sort of like a simplified version of dropbox with drag and drop uploading, and it copies the web url directly in to your clipboard. I am trying it out now.

Uhm, the iPhone Dropbox app has a drop down menu item titled,"copy link to clipboard".

Really, if Dropbox is too hard for you, you probably struggle with ATMs and subway ticket dispensers as well.

"Drag and drop uploading" is Dropbox.  I'm not sure how this thing could be any simpler.

It uploads everything. If you didn't want it uploaded, you'll figure out how to get rid of it.

I have to assume the subject of the topic is sarcasm simply because you'd have to be fundamentally retarded to not "understand" dropbox.

So... Dropbox without that bothersome context menu?

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

Winner.

Anyway. Its pretty neat for just uploading random crap you dont want cluttering your dropbox.

You drag a file to the icon in your taskbar, and Cloudapp automatically puts the web URL in your clipboard. Its almost impossible to fuck up.

And yeah, I am a slut for Dropbox.

OIC.  That is kinda nice.

Does it have its own hosting, or is it just a wrapper around something like tinypic?

From their site.

CloudApp is powered by Heroku and Amazon's Simple Storage Service. Files are redundantly stored on multiple devices across multiple storage facilities preventing data corruption and loss.

Honestly, for the things I use Dropbox for, that would be annoying. Wiping out whatever I had in my clipboard is bad. If I want the link, ill get it.

I also highly prefer the public and non public system of Dropbox. Not saying that others would not have other uses where this is good for them.

I like that it uses Amazon's cloud, not sure what Dropbox uses.

The only thing I'd like to change with Dropbox is what files/folders are synced to my computer. I don't really need *all* files synced, just the ones I'm editing from multiple computers - otherwise I can download that b!tch when I need it. (As your dropbox usage goes up, do you really wanna sync 2gigs of crap to your brand new laptop when half of it is for sharing with the internets?)

So, screw Cloudapp and vote: https://www.dropbox.com/votebox/10/selective-sync

yes, yes. we know you want it and it's coming! the first 0.8 builds should be out in the next two weeks at most. these builds will have xattrs/resource fork support, selective sync support, a new status UI, and many performance/memory improvements.

that said, the first release of 0.8 will have the UI's disabled while we make sure all the core sync changes are 100% stable. once they are, we'll enable all the cool new features smiley

the latest updates for the dev builds can be found on the top of the forums

Edit: doh, nm. Post was made 2 months ago.
