Welcome, n00bles. The mods and admins don't give a shit about posting links. They welcome it, in fact.

Go read his post again.
The link He's wary of posting is the one to a (very good, thankyou!) torrent site.

But thanks for the links, both of you.

I didn't mean for that to sound snide. Problem with typing, no inflection. I was actually being sincere when I said welcome!  embarassed

And I didn't read between the lines on his post. My bad! Hope you found what you were looking for, at any rate.

Alton's show is called Good Eats (and pardon me if that had already been stated.) Food Network sells DVDs, but they're horribly overpriced and I believe you can only buy themed sets; there are no "season boxes" available, so all of the episodes are not on DVD.

But that's OK, because you can still find each season wrapped up in a neat package if you look around. I'd bust out a direct link for you, but I don't think the mods would appreciate that. Try a search for "digital distractions."

Even if you aren't that interested in cooking, Good Eats is a pretty damn enjoyable show.

Welcome, n00bles. The mods and admins don't give a shit about posting links. They welcome it, in fact. Here's that link, btw. Thought I'd link you right to his site so you don't have to wade too much, Hanzii. Enjoy.

Edit: Oopsie! He doesn't sell his show from his site. Here you go.

Those would be links to the aforementioned 'themed sets', which as stated, do not contain all the episodes.

What was being suggested in the second paragraph was that collections of all the episodes can, in fact, be found if one looks in the right place.  The fact that procurement thru such means isn't exactly legal is why he can't post links.

So, the 1st season finally appeared on my harddrive (as if by magic) and I just watched the two first episodes.
I can't say I learned a whole lot of new stuff, but the guy's really good.
I like the way he covers the basics and steers away from recipes. The magazine right next door to mine is a cooking magazine - I'll get the editor on buying all the official releases. There's a lot of stuff to steal be inspired by - and then I get to borrow the sets.

I saw an episode he did on making your own energy bars. It was A+ stuff. He's like Mr. Wizard with food.

I'll be using the techniques from his beef jerky episode to fashion a food dehydrator this fall, when the chantrelles and oyster mushrooms are in full effect. It's hard to be that creative when you have like 20 pounds of choice edibles that don't freeze well. Dehydration ftw!

Just saw that through the wonder that is TiVo a few nights ago. I am not an energy bar kind of guy, but it was really interesting stuff. I like his work on ICA too- the chefs seem to like him and find his comments amusing.

I just made the beef jerky this weekend,  turned out top notch!    Though I had to run it on the fan for closer to 24 hours. It might have been due to letting is set in the flavoring liquids for too long ( like 12 hours)  or the fact my fan didn't measure up to the blow hard 3000.

I saw the chili episode.  He wore a fake mustache the whole time and talked funny.  This past weekend I saw the pancake episode, and he looked far more normal.  Turns out that he and I got some of our stainless steel measuing tools at the same store, so points for him.

Tomorrow is the Wild About Game wild foods convention and none other than AB will be there. I'ma get him to sign my old beat-up copy of On Food and Cooking. I'll try to get a pic of me standing with him for my blog.

Cool, tell him if he wants a tour of the Coca-Cola HQ, I am his man.  Because, you know... free Coke.

Well after asking him to sign a book he didn't even write, I didn't wanna bug him for another favor. Plus, I was lurking and had pretty much pounced on him on his way out the door, and didn't want to be a complete pain in the ass.

Jumping in a tad late to say I too  Heart Alton Brown.  I saw him remake a kitchen that was absolute perfection.  It was interesting to learn that he used to be a flim student that decided to go into the culinery arts instead and used what he knew of video to create the unique filming of his show.  I also love how his love of the science of food translated over so well.  I'm addicted to watching him when I come across the show.

This thread plus glowing recommendation from some friends who are outstanding cooks led me to buy Alton's book.

It's great so far. Cooking is treated as a science. The theory gets as much emphasis as the procedural instruction. Good stuff so far. I can't wait to make my first SOUFFLE!

A good idea is a good idea forever.
