It is scary how many little every day type jokes come from that series- "Missed it by THAT much", Cone of Silence, shoe phones; even MST3K paid homage in their door/hatch closing sequences.
I have also heard that Agent 99 was originally Agent 69, but they couldn't blow that by the censors. Heh.

Go go Gadget Cone of Silence in Asile 9!
I first knew him from Inspector Gadget, then I saw Get Smart. Great show. Then of course there was "Check It Out" which was rerun wayyyy too many times on USA.
You kind of figured he was old, given when Get Smart first aired, but you just kind of forgot it. Sort of like forgetting Bob Denver was in his late 80s too.

I knew it was him just by the voice, it's just sad that none of the newsbits I've read about him include the TT stuff, Underdog was a huge part of my childhood cartoon experience, that and the Rocky & Bullwinkle show. UHF TV in rural America ftw. |

As the season DVDs come out, I've been getting my 5 year old son to watch Rocky & Bullwinkle. He seems to enjoy it, although not quite as much as Looney Tunes. He's also watched the Wacky Races DVD set a number of times. I've been getting him into the Pink Panther cartoons but my 2 year old daughter seems to like them more than my son. |

As the season DVDs come out, I've been getting my 5 year old son to watch Rocky & Bullwinkle. He seems to enjoy it, although not quite as much as Looney Tunes. He's also watched the Wacky Races DVD set a number of times. I've been getting him into the Pink Panther cartoons but my 2 year old daughter seems to like them more than my son. Rocky and Bullwinkle is better for slightly older kids, in my opinion. Its humor isn't so obvious or slapsticky, more absurd. A bit too subtle for a five year old, I think. At least, I didn't appreciate Rocky and Bullwinkle then... not until I was about 10 or so did I really start to "get it." |
