I am now the utter bitch of Direct2Drive, and have bought many games there that I wouldn't otherwise probably have gotten. Just this week, Indigo Prophecy and Shattered Union. Before that Oblivion and Civ 4. If only they had a wider selection, but hey.
I try to avoid the Gamestops. Their PC selection is pathetic, and I'll head over to BestBuy if there's something I really need.
How long'd it take to download Oblivion? I was thinking about doing that but thought it would take forever + 1 day.
So this is probably news to no one except me, but I just walked into a Gamestop to buy Advance Wars: Dual Strike, and the lady asked if I wanted to buy a 1 year warranty on the game for five dollars. I was incredulous, "but..it's a brand new game..." Then she tried to get me to preorder some games. This shit is weak. I doubt I'll ever go back unless I'm utterly desperate. Which is pretty likely to happen I guess. All things considered.
TRU is actually the same way (or at least is supposed to be but a lot of cashiers hate pimping warranties out). They have what is called a Buyer Protection Program for $2.99 I think for video games. I can only imagine that it appeals to people who can't take care of their shit.
