p2p got hacked. So how do people do that shit? what keeps someone from doing it here or on any other site?

People do it because in general most people suck. Those who don't suck are probably stupid and there is a very very teensy minority of people who neither suck nor are stupid.

They got hacked because PHP-Nuke is so full of holes it's a joke.

It says he 'got root'.  If he did then the hack probably had nothing to do with php-nuke.  If he's just ignorant and thinks that getting enough access to change the front page is 'root access' then it probably is php-nukes fault, probably the result of a SQL injection attack.

Regardless, defacing the front page is harmless, 15 minutes of careful snipping will remove it.  Computers are extremely complex machines and when dilettantes think they can master them then stuff like this happens.
