The fact that you even found that site scares me...

The fact that you felt the need to crosspost that bothers me.
You know exactly what I'm talking about.

The fact that you even found that site scares me... Well, it is probably even more shameful around these parts to reveal where I saw this ( http://fohguild.org/forums/showthread.php?s=6c933eab9fecaa78ad7294e34f2f4f53&threadid=11727 ) than it would be to say I found it by googling "I am a pathetic gaming nerd desperate for love". This ad they have is great: http://www.somethingpositive.net/ads/bannerad4.jpg"slaying the dragon all by myself" is now my preferred euphemism for masturbation. edit: lighten up Schild, I found it amusing and don't think many people here read FoHEdit II: ah, I see this was put up on corp news earlier. From now on I will carefully examine every site in the vast LtM diaspora before posting anything

That ad makes me want to claw my eyes out.
In a lot of ways, I'm rather glad my wife takes absolutely no interest in my gaming. Of course, I think I've gotten past gaming to the point of "catasss" which seems to be the audience they're going for.
Mmmm.. a hot babe that neglects her hygiene to stay up until 2am on a Planes raid. I think I'll pass.

Edit II: ah, I see this was put up on corp news earlier. From now on I will carefully examine every site in the vast LtM diaspora before posting anything I wasn't trying to be an ass, man. You don't have to examine. I made the obvious assumption and I was wrong. I'm man enought to admit that. To bring the thread back on topic, the site is scary. wrong. No.

Of course, I think I've gotten past gaming to the point of "catasss" which seems to be the audience they're going for. What's really sad is that a couple of years ago, I would have signed up for this service. Thank God I'm not that big a catass anymore and have a girlfriend who's not into gaming.

They've updated since I first saw it. Now there are actual people (well, they are sort of people) on it, with pictures and all. The fact that one of the first females you see is wearing cat ears on her head really puts my mind in places it would just rather not go.

This reminds me for some reason of a friend of mine when in college. He was the ultimate geek, but a good guy and borderline brilliant in his own introverted way.
The guy had a bizaare talent for finding women in text muds and having them fly across the country to live with him for a semester or two. These were not ugly women by any means. Quite attractive girls who also just happened to be very introverted. Eventually he married the best one of the bunch. Lucky guy, she was a real keeper both in looks and attitude. So gamer geeks are not always losers with the ladies. The stereotype is probably true for most, but this friend of mine was the spitting image of the geek stereotype (would make windows jokes and then laugh hysterically at himself). I would not have believed this whole thing except for having seen it with my own eyes.
Heh, I ended up meeting my wife online as well, but in EQ as a friend and not on a mmog dating service. This site is pushing it, but hey, it will probably work for some.

Oh noes, people with similar interests trying to meet. Word at an end!
Yes, this is much more lame than going to a bar and getting a girl drunk enough you can take her home.

I'm guessing you have a membership number in the low teens then?

I think I have to agree with Merusk on this one. Some of these people don't even sound like raging catasses.

I'm guessing you have a membership number in the low teens then? No, but I met my wife online. It's no different and no more ridiculous than being set-up on a blind date. Meeting people is hard at times, and I'm not going to judge people looking for companionship becase everyone gets lonely. You all, however, are acting like they're doing something abnormal in looking for companionship, and at the same time want folks with similar interests. How dare they. I suppose they should settle for less than their want and marry someone who hates gaming and berates them for it because that's "normal," right?
