I'm sure that most of you gave up on this series ages ago. The Nazi Aliens from Outer Space episode did it for me pretty much.
Still, Friday night's episode set in the Mirror universe was just excellent. They even redid the sappy theme song into something more evil just for the occasion.

Check it out. If you're an original Star Trek geek you'll love it.

The latest one. Enterprise. It's being cancelled after only 4 seasons and it'll probably be years before we get any more out of the Star Trek franchise. |

Not that much of a succes then  ?
The episodes I watched where not that bad. Well, I have no idea if there are any ideas left for a new series.

I agree. I was lost at first as they played the Scene from First Contact where Chochrine meets the Vulcans.. then pulls out the shotgun and blows him away.  But as soon as they played the changed theme song and showed the Terran Empire symbol I got it.  Hell, if they did the whole series this way it wouldn't be going off the air in 3 weeks.
Catch it this week on reruns if you can, the second part plays next week.  It's one of the best episodes you'll ever see of any recent ST series, even if it is Enterprise.

There have been other episodes this season worth watching; the 4-parter that took place on Vulcan was pretty good. However it's pretty obvious the franchise needs some time off.
They could have really done something with the whole "Earth tries to get into space, fumbles a lot and kicks some ass Kirk-style" motif. Remember in the first season where Enterprise quite dramatically launches missiles at some ship and they just *clunk* off the hull? That was great. Vampire space elf nazis? Not so great.

There was a new writing team in season 4. They got saddled with the space vampire story by the previous team's season ending cliffhanger. Their goal was to bury it (and the lame "temporal cold war" thread) as quickly as possible so they could write the stories they wanted to tell. |

If it didn't kill it off entirely, that is. |

You know, I gave up on this series when it first started because of the gross stupid. But in all honesty I’ve been watching this season since the Klingon / Human augment gene splicing explaining the original series look of the Klingons bit. And its been good. I’m regretting that they are canning it because it looks like they found some non-moron writers.
Season 4 of Enterprise is the first decent Trek since the Next Gen was on. Ah well.

It doesn't matter how many non-moron writers they put on it, it still has full-on moron Rick Berman heading up the franchise, which guarantees suckage. DS9 was the only thing of worth produced by the Star Trek team once the Next Gen degenerated into politically correct bumpfuzzling. |

Well the second part wasn't quite as good as the first but I enjoyed it. It really is a shame that this is the end of the series. The new writers probably could have saved it with a little more time. |

I usually don't watch Star Trek series until after they're off the air. I don't know why. Seems like that's the order of things lately with Star Trek. Always sort of was for some people, I guess.
I love old TNG reruns nowadays, and the later seasons of DS9 are absolutely stellar. The only one I always thought was pretty lame was Voyager, and I'll probably check out and enjoy some Enterprise in a couple years.

TNG had a really rocky start.  We took to calling it "Love Boat In Space" for the first two years.
"fully functional"... hehe still makes me chuckle.

Old TNG episodes are fun to go back to.  For exactly that reason.   :-D |

Somewhat agreed. I get a kick out of the odd old TNG episode. Of course, I get a kick out of first season Simpsons too sometimes, and nobody can quite figure that out.
I think we all need to join hands and proclaim the final season of DS9 fucking awesome though before this thread ends.

Season seven of DS9 was damned good. I was particularly impressed that they actually managed to give us a new Dax and I didn't even hate her. Season six was always incredible. It always seems to takes trek series two or three seasons to warm up. I even enjoyed Voyager by the time season 7 rolled around. |
