Routine traffic stop finds 32 full-sized alligators

CASA GRANDE - A routine traffic stop led to an unusual discovery near Casa Grande.

Thirty-two alligators were found inside a fifth-wheel trailer after the stop around 11 p.m. Sunday on eastbound Interstate 10.

Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Frank Valenzuela says several of the gators were adult-size. They were found hidden in a special compartment.

State Fish and Game seized the reptiles.

Valenzuela says the driver of the truck that was pulling the trailer likely will face charges to be filed by Fish and Game.

Valenzuela says the driver indicated he was transporting the gators from California to Georgia.
