So, I've gotten to the point where I have to decide between the two.

We already have a guild armorsmith (kind of, he's rarely on) and a guild weaponsmith.  I had initially decided to go armorsmith because we think the armorsmith will quit soon.  But then I realized that you can go one of three directions with weaponsmith so it won't be redundant.

So I might have changed my mind.  In addition, it seems that some of the cool stuff you can make as an artisan armorsmith (dark iron stuff) requires a trip to the bottom of BRD whenever you want to smith it, where weaponsmith doesn't (?).  Add that to the fact that (from what I've seen) dropped armor is generally better than smithed, but the best axe in the game is from master axesmith, I think that makes weaponsmith look better.

Of course any of this is subject to change in future patches.  Uncertainty 4tw!

Any other comments from those of you that are smiths?  Being an irreversible decision I'm approaching it with some care.

Witty banter not included.

I'm just now becoming a weaponsmith, because after browsing through all of the Armorsmith plans, there's only like...3 things I even give a shit about (The Whitesoul Helm, Dark Iron Plate, and I think some trinket I can't remember...), whereas weaponsmith has a generally wider array of stuff to make that I might actually equip or be able to sell.

I'd rather have a Phantom Blade, Shatterer, Blight, etc. than the Ornate Mithril set.

You'll actually be able to make money out of weapon smith.  Without clicking on that link i assume the best axe you refer too is the arcanite reaper, another great reason for going with weapon smith.  The only thing armor smith has going for it is the anti fear trinket, but i think the new pvp trinkets would make that obsolete.

Errrm, you can do the mithril order quests without going armorsmith.  Any blacksmith can get the anti-fear trinket.

You might want to take a look at the patch notes before deciding (from test server)

Quote
Seven new blacksmithing recipes are available to seasoned blacksmiths via a series of turn-in quests.
Three new armorsmithing recipes are available to master armorsmiths. All 3 recipes are gained via quest.

I don't know if the new recipies have been found and posted on Thottbot or not, but I imagine any new recipies for master armorsmiths are going to be pretty good.

Yeah back when I was playing it was obvious that armorsmith was junk compared to weapon but sounds like Blizz caught on also I'd check and see how must-have these new recipies are before you make your call.

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.
