So which upcoming Roman MMO does everyone have their money on? I remember liking the backstory of Imperator when I first read it.

It's not like all Roman citizens or soldiers were white anyways.

What's interesting is each MMO is quite different from the other, so they all have a fair chance of success.  I think you'd have to give the nod to Imperator, though, simply because of Mythic's track record.

Imperator probably has the most chance of being stable and well-publicized, Roma Victor has the most chance for being innovative and crashing horrendously like most first-time indy development efforts who try too much, and Gods and Heroes has the most chance of being somewhat interesting.

Let me just point out that nobody has gotten sick of realistic WW2 shooters, and there are dozens of those, each more bland than the next.

I've been sick of WWII shooters since Call of Duty. I've yet to play a single player campaign near as fun as that one. My problem is that I like story, and I know a WWII shooter will never give me a decent one. Or at least one that I remotely care about.

Hell, I've been sick of them for years, but they still sell to somebody...

I mean, I don't see how any rational person could not be sick of them. And yet...

I dunno, I can't remember the last time I bought, or played, a WW2 shooter. The closest would be the Normandy map for UT's Assault mode.

WWII shooters sell because the weapons and combat are excellent for PVP.

The primitive weapons and vehicles move slowly and create a nice pacing to the fighting. Modern shooters move too fast and too "twitchy" for me.

A good idea is a good idea forever.

When everything you say comes directly from the RNC talking points, you have to take the bad along with the good, I guess.

I have always been a fan of Greek and Roman mythology- it is what spawned my interest in the fantasy genre in the first place. I can still remember seeing Clash of the Titans as a lad at a friend's birthday party (these were the days when owning a VCR was a status symbol, so it was a big deal). After that, it was classic literature and stories, D&D, and then full time reading in the sci fi/fantasy section of the bookstore. Long way of saying I like the premise of Gods and Heroes, and I hope they don't fuck it up too badly.

I'm still a sucker for anything D2 related, maybe someone can sell me some overpriced mugs or shirts to break me out of it someday. :(  On the plus side, Guild Wars next weekend!

After looking through the website, I'd have to give the game a thumbs-up so far. I'm pondering as a cross between D2 and WoW... just with martyrs being torn apart by lions.
