I can see this being a solely young kids movie which at the end of the day, is that really so bad? I mean let's say this movie was made to cater to the ten and under crowd exclusively, does that mean it shouldn't be made?
~a horrific, dark simulacrum that glares balefully at us, with evil intent.
I agree, but people will savage it becaus it's Pixar and those are all "supposed to" be for adults as well.
The movie looked like one that should have been Disney brand not Pixar. This isn't the first one that's felt that way either, so there might be some deliberate script shuffling on the part of longstanding Disney execs who care about their brand more. Just speculation on my part though.
The past cannot be changed. The future is yet within your power.
I thought the various side characters made the movie. The styracosaur (?) with his army of small protectors was my personal favorite. I want my very own Dreamcrusher to sit on my monitor and protect me from having unrealistic goals.

That part was rather good and way out of left field, left me wondering what particular narcotics the writers were on when they came up with the character (Wendy!). Coupled with the next? scene being Arlo and Spot eating fermented fruit the movie looked like it was going places..:D
Making movies 'just for kids' is a cop out imho (hello George Lucas), Pixar has higher standards than this..shit they've made movies about a rat cooking french food excellent. Inside Out was essentially about a teenage girl suffering a mental breakdown and it was awesome for both adults and kids. A telling point is that the movie was originally slated for release in the summer of 2014 and they pushed it back.
On a side note never doze off in a movie when you have a small offspring next to you, otherwise she'll ask you to wake up at the TOP OF HER VOICE in the middle of a movie. Good times.
Someone liked something? Who the fuzzy fuck was this heretic? You don't come to this website and enjoy something. Fuck that. ~ The Walrus

The Disney and Pixar animation studios are run by the same two people -- i.e. Ed Catmull and John Lasseter from Pixar.
