Not the shitshow I thought it would be.

Bungie has obviously left the building, but as a co-worker observed, that's not necessarily a bad thing. The single player isn't bad and the co-op Spartan Ops missions after the campaign is over are a nice touch. As much as I wanted to hate it, I don't.

I want to say a good chunk of 343i is just former Bungie anyways.

Yeah, but they're not the Bungie guys I knew, so fuck 'em.  why so serious?

That said, they're not bad stewards of the franchise, but some of the armor designs make me scratch my head.

The Halo 4 armors are too busy and not 'armory' enough, I find. It started up with Reach, where they just started bolting all kinds of random stuff to the armors.

343i and Microsoft went balls in with the shared universe and lore stuff though. Have you seen the Forward Unto Dawn series?

Seriously, love the forward unto dawn stuff and the connection to Halo 4. the lore/world shit is nuts. Don't get me started on Femshep as the voice of the new Spartan Commander. But you nailed it on the armor. I thought Reach had gone far enough, this shit is starting to look like a Jim Lee comic, and not in a good way.

I was just telling Sjofn that last night. Jennifer Hale has been typecast as a super soldier.  why so serious?

I'm so glad they let her do something besides Commander Shepard for GW2.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

I liked it. I am the type of dork that enjoy the story and lore in Halo though. There is a certain event towards the end of Halo 4 that I am very much in denial about however.

One thing I really liked about the popular fighter jet themed internet gaming community "eff thirteen dot net" was that it didn't have a thread about halo 4.

Jennifer Hale hasn't really been typecast as supersoldier; it's just that she can do just about anything and is the go-to for that particular genre need.

Her voice work is extensive beyond belief.

She's quite capable of other roles, but it seems like no one else is ever considered for a military female anymore.

Jane Lynch in Wreck-It Ralph, Grey DeLisle and Tricia Helfer in Starcraft 2 come to mind as counter-examples, but I don't play a lot of sci-fi games.

Cylon Lady was the voice of the ONI agent in ODST actually.

-edit-

Riggswolfe, I'm totally not ok with that either. I honestly don't know if they wouldn't keep it as it appears though.

Wreck-It Ralph wasn't using career voice actors, though I personally loved Jane Lynch's Calhoun.  Never played SC2.  Did they go mostly actors or voice actors for the voices?

Almost all voice actors. Tricia Helfer and I guess Michael Dorn are the only 2 I remember who are more known for screen than VA (and Dorn is pushing it these days.)

To be fair, a huge proportion of video game leads are super soldiers, so this is true of anyone who does a lot of game work.
