Castle Story: Minecraft + tower defense

So another Minecraft-like game arises.  Its a little different in that you have your dudes build a castle for you during the day and defend it from attackers at night, hoping that you built a defensively sound structure.  Looks kind of interesting.  Its on Steam now under the early access tag, so its still not "released" even though they're charging $20 for it.  Has anyone played it yet?  Thoughts?  Opinions?

I've been eyeballing it but am also waiting to pull the trigger since $20 for an unfinished and unknown game is a bit steep.  I really like the concept, though.

Friend of mine kickstarted it and says it is not yet ready, and doesn't have the fun in it yet. So... maybe at some point?
