Hit Esc when the Wikipedia page loads. No blackout.
(Yes, yes, or use NoScript or whichever add-on)
You gotta be fucking kidding me... And I was wondering why the blackout did not affect me in Germany.

As a tangent; proving once again that the internets are horrible at messaging and lobbying all I've heard is "this is bad. This is bad" from Google, Wikipedia, etc and no blurb about WHY it's bad. If you're going to use popular support as your lobbying group instead of actual lobbyists like Hollywood, you need to get that info to the populous.
So instead it sounds like a bunch of guys who made money off of free content getting pissed they'll be charged for it. Hell, even the NPR story I heard this morning gave it that spin. I know it's not the case but the message is failing to be delivered in any way that will penetrate the ignorant masses.

The places I heard about it from all pretty much went into a decent amount of detail on why it was bad. Of course, the news sources I read are either technical or the BBC, so I have no clue what Fox et al are spewing except to know that Rupert Murdoch publicly blasted opponents of the legislation.

Yeah, the populous doesn't read tech sites. BBC? Ha! Again, failing to manage the message.
Internet buzz does not translate into real world action. In politics OR movie hype.

Well, it is pretty much impossible to "manage the message" when the media outlets in your country all have a spot in the kitchen cooking up shit like SOPA and PROTECT IP.

Hrm, could have sworn that article had more stuff in it. Of course, I read that article between a couple of different tech site articles about it so that might be why.

Even the evil media speaks the dollar and are likely to put commercials on-air if you pay for them. At least until Rupert et. al catch wind of it and say to stop.. which each other outlet would report to make their competition look bad.

Ugh, you bastards are going to make me flip back and forth between here and the Politics thread to keep up on this subject?
