Ditto.  It's been a great season.  Thanks for all of the effort, Falc.  If it wasn't for your work we might not have this little corner of f13, and I might still be a lurker.

Behold the power of Gutter Runners! Top scorer, most experienced, all with fewer games that the rest of the top five, and all without rolling any stat up or doubles; just basic skills!

Gutter Runners are awesome. One of mine is in the best thrower category, another in the best receiver category.

Is this all in league play, or is some of that in Feeder?

Well, when your a team with fast scorers, you want to balance your TD's and not stack them on one guy.  Wood elven catchers are the next best in the game (they were actually equal or better last edition, but then they got nerfed.   cry), but I've gone out of my way to to try and spread around the TD's between my players, rather than having the same guy score every time.

Though I think it just might be he's incredibly lucky.  I can't see MVP's right now since I'm at work, but:

Next best league scorer is my guy Nimanwe, with 18 TD's, and has 64 SPP.  18*3=54.  So basically that means 18 TD's, and MVP twice in his career.

Your guy has 20 TD's, and 95 SPP.  20*3=60.  So... MVP 7 fricken times?   Ohhhhh, I see.

Assuming no passes (probably a bad assumption) and casualties (he might have a couple.)

I think he has about 4 casualties and a couple of passes.

I wish the tds were more balanced in my team. It's not really ideal especially as pass block is tv bloat most of the time. But unfortunately I have had a lot of players die in my time and just not the luck to pass the scores around. I mean, that guy got 5 TDs in a single game!

Also, your guy has been receiver 17 times Tele. Mine has been less than 7. He has been scoring from different situations.

No feeder league game for me, just the regular season since season #3.

Also pro elf catchers are better than wood elf, and nearly as good as GRs.

Hrm, you may be right.  I never noticed the pro elf catchers were STR 3.  That makes the nerf even harder.  We had MV 9, like gutter runners, with both having the draw back of str 2 (but WE's also got catch on top of dodge).  But then they moved them back to MV 8, but instead of raising str, gave us sprint for free.

Which isn't a good trade off.   Ohhhhh, I see.

Raising their str would have been something like 20k more cost vs. giving them sprint.

Pro Elf catcher is 100k.  Wood elf catcher is 90K

Pro elf catcher has exact same stats as wood elf catcher, except it has +1 STR.

Wood elf catcher has 3 basic skills, with are worth 20k each.

Pro elf catcher has 1 basic skill, and 1 skill you can only normally get with doubles, with is worth 30k.

So skill wise, wood elves have 60k worth, and pro elf has 50k worth.  However, Pro elves are worth 10k more than wood elves, so that's a grand TV advantage to the wood elves of 20k.

And for that 20k, pro elves get 1 extra strength to even them out.   Ohhhhh, I see.

So yes, they could have given the wood elven catchers only 2 skills, +str, not changed their buying price, and it still would be even.

Well, the pricing is a bit more of an art than a science to be sure - look at a dwarf runner compared to a human lineman. Dwarf runner has "50k" worth of skills (since it doesn't have S access for thick skull) and P access but only costs 30k more than the lineman. Partly due to the fact that you can only have 2 of them, I'm sure, but I think they don't necessarily weight starting skills the same in general.

EDIT: The high elf catcher comparison is perhaps instructive; it seems pretty clear that they only charge 10k for nerves on the pro elf catcher for whatever reason. I suspect they look at the pricing thing for starting skills more as a team-wide issue; note you're only paying 10k per lineman for an extra 1 MV compared to pro elves, where +1 MV is worth 30k if you rolled it on a level-up. There's a lot of stuff like that, which is why a strict player-to-player comparison doesn't really work.

Also I think it would be hard to argue that wood elves aren't a very effective side even with the catcher nerf.

Yeah, interesting table from OCC stats:

I would suggest that Wood Elves are suffering (like Orcs) from the "everyone plays them" effect, while High and Pro Elves would attract a better player more often.

(And Dark Elves are just the best side)

Oh, I didn't say I was unhappy with the team!   awesome, for real

I understand the whole team balance thing, I just don't really feel the wood elves deserved that particular nerf (and it was a nerf, that was my main argument).  Thought they were fine as they were for the last few editions.

Especially since that chart Lamaros posted proves they're the weakest of the Elves apparently, heh.

The chart is one thing. I think of the last 6 OCC seasons Wood Elves have won 4 times and Lizards twice. So Wood Elves can still be good on their day.  why so serious?

Well, except that all four wins were by the same coach/team. (And were both lizardmen wins Tigga as well?) Flix also plays remarkably differently from most Wood Elf coaches, closer to a Dark Elf running/short pass game. Though there are also a bunch of other WE teams up at the top, who take the more traditional long-pass approach.
