The Paladin spell, Blessing of Light, has been changed so that it properly scales according to the rank of the healing spell being cast. Prior to this fix, the Blessing of Light bug gave a greater-than-intended effect to lower-rank Paladin healing spells. This bug allowed Paladins to heal at a rapid rate using very little mana by only using the first ranks of Flash of Light and Holy Light. This bug has been hotfixed and is now eliminated from the game.

Doesn't seem that most Paladins really care... evidently it wasn't very popular anyway.  It seems that the "hotfixes" come in slow dribs and drabs... it makes me wonder how slow actual updates with content and new stuff will be.  Maybe they should bring back xmas pressies and snowballs to divert our attention.

Maybe Blizzard should outsource ongoing maintenance issues to the EQ2 team :)

Maybe they should admit defeat and make Starcraft II. God knows everybody, their dog, and their Korean will buy the game on launch date. They'd make back all their money and then some...assuming they can figure out the patcher in b.net and get rid of this bt shit.

Btw, mini nerfs rock. I wish every game had more of them. rolleyes

Yeah... EQ2 seems to be having wave after wave of huge updates.  Good.  It needs it.  I just don't know if it's possible to fix the "fun" factor... or lack thereof.

Sure they can.  They can call it the "Fun update".  Or should I say addition ;)

No doubt.  It is easier to update a charming game, than it is to make a game charming with updates.

This results from the tactic being described on conquests home page. They recently released spoilers for moltern core in an effort to prove they weren't exploiting. I don't really care, but it brings a tear to my eye to see the uber-guild ego-fest reborn anew.

Looking at the abilities it's pretty obvious and really should have been caught at the design stage. Anything where a high level effect can be endlessly triggered by a trivial ability means it can continue on indefinitely. Thus blowing the restraints of mana and aggro. I'm pretty sure this tactic was described several times on the beta board, including using a -25 mana per cast item to make it truly infinite, but blizzard are so sluggish in their responses.

Is a man not entitled to the hurf of his durf?

For some reason the expression "polishing a turd" comes to mind...

Somebody also posted a video of a rogue beating on a pally using this trick and the rogue couldn't do enough DPS to overcome the pally heal spam.

They hotfixed the Molten Core Living Bomb grief tool as well.

Yeah I did this a few times when required to be main healer and up against bosses. I can't remember who I got the idea from, but it was some uber guildie's post. I wasn't specced or equipped for intense healing at the time so the only way to stretch my mana far enough was to use this. The reason why paladins aren't bothered is because most of them never even knew it existed. For the ones that did know, it just isn't something that hurts the class in any appreciable way. If we wanted to be main healers we would have been priests (personally I got a taste of being main healer and decided I wanted more... so I rolled a priest), and for soloing it's just too much fucking around. If both shields, a lay on hands, some bandages, and a mana pot don't get me through then it's not worth my time trying to do it.

Oh, and you have to be level 40 before you can do it, so many paladins would never have seen the effect even if they knew of it.

Schild, I don't even play WoW anymore, but I still find your obsessive hate for it ludicrous.  It must suck though, having your obsessive hate object kick EQ's ass and zoom towards a million subscribers and generally pwn the genre.   :-D

It's not obsessive hate for WoW in particular, it's for the entire stagnant genre. WoW will do nothing but set back evolution (revolution?) a few more years. For that, I hate.

I would prefer that companies like Blizzard focus on making games that are fun and absorbing.

This genre is no different than any other art. There will be always be a handful of unhappy arthouse/record store grousing about the sad state of the genre while everyone else just finds enjoyment product by product.

To throw another example, there are a lot of people who are enjoying driving a new ferrari while you are upset that cars don't fly or have more efficient engine technology.

A good idea is a good idea forever.

Believe it or not, he is actually less hateful towards WoW than he is with many other MMOGs.  Maybe he's starting to mellow with age.  By the time he turns 23, he should be almost ready to serve to the public.  Well, unless he ages like cheese, that is.

Expecting an innovative game from Blizzard is like expecting a fish to ride a bicycle. They have never been innovative. They built their empire on refining other people's ideas from Warcraft and Diablo on.

Sounds familiar...

I cannot stress the importance of "second mover advantage". You get to learn from the mistakes the first-movers did.

Of course, the MMORPG industry has proven to be the exception to this rule. We shall see.
