Just watched this [imdb link]Absolutely brutal French-Canadian film, its left me a little stunned. The movie starts with a young girl escaping from unknown assailants that had kidnapped and systematically tortured her. The movie then moves forward 15 years when she seeks revenge on her attackers. The movie never really lets up at all, and there is one stark moment in the film which just filled me with the most dread I've ever experienced in a horror film.

Ya, based on the imdb synopsis, I'll be skipping this one.

I should get back to nature, too. You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer. Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached. Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

This movie is terrible unpleasant to watch. And I skipped most of the scenes I think. But the ending was simply Which scene filled you with dread ? Mom in the shower ?

When the squad comes in and kills the woman with the metal visor and thats where you realise the rest of the movie is going to be them torturing the girl. I think they set up that moment of horror perfectly, I never really felt like she had some chance of escape.

I remember looking at how long the movie was still going at that point. Then I started skipping forward during the torture scenes. Then came the flaying... Seriously, no one should watch this movie.

I almost thought of skipping at that point too, I knew it was just going to be all torture and didn't know if I could bear to watch it. I've never had a movie affect me like that before, I'm normally pretty blasé about even the most vile things in a movie. Only other movie that has made me feel uncomfortable for a long time was Audition.
That said though they probably could have ended the movie after the mademoiselle revealed the reason for it all and them dragging her off and leaving you to imagine the rest. The rest kinda drags on a bit for not much of a payoff, compared to the energy of the first half.
I don't think its worth watching if you know what to expect, I went in knowing nothing about the film other than it was supposed to really scary. At first your not sure if there is going to be a supernatural element or where the movie is going to go. That bit of ignorance really helps the reveal.
