Yea, I know it's indie and from the eastern bloc.

I was hoping someone might have made the mistake of buying it before I did so I could avoid an unfortunate fate.

Probably modern man dropped into fantasy setting.

Considering a certain other RPG, it's a little amusing that this game is based on a book called "Not the time for dragons." It's like industry snark.

They totally should have named it that.

It was a working title, apparently. With a low-budget title, I guess you aren't interested in taking any chances at all. Even so, I think "A farewell to dragons" does sound better and less hamfisted translation.

I still know nothing of the game so I'll just say that the book is co-authored by the writer of the Night Watch-series, Sergey Lukyanenko.

Closest thing to a review I could find was this thread.

You're a doctor. That's right, you're not a pimply faced, mad at the world teenager. Nope, you're a doctor, and you're living a normal life in our world, when a girl you assume to be about 13 shows up at your apartment. Somehow events turn out that you stumble into the middle world, and she becomes your companion. And it seems she may know a whole lot more about what's going on.

Nailed it. I bet it's a Trope. But I can't find it. Too many other distracting, interesting tropes...

A Farewell to Dragons is a classic Action/RPG that takes place in the universe based on the science-fiction book of the same name written by famous Russian writers Sergey Lukyanenko and Nikolay Perumov. Fateful times began in the Middle World, from now on its destiny depends on Victor, main character of the game. He will learn the magic of four elements, master the Power and fulfill his destiny. Leaded by young sorceress Telle the hero has to grasp in intrigues, experience himself and accept his fate. Who is he, a Dragon or his Killer?

I remember reading about this like a year or two ago.   I don't think it really qualifies as an indie game though.   More like a cheap as peanuts Russian studio sort of deal.   In that respect it might be a hidden gem sort of thing or complete trash.

It doesn't look that bad. Has some pretty art for that view style.
