I had something published on Key Ingredient, and they wanted me to try that thing out (they weren't giving it to me for free, though, so wtf). Looks cool, but one obvious flaw I find is that the kitchen is a steamy, greasy place that I try to keep screens away from. Cook a steak on a hot pan once or twice and you'll end up with a fine mist of fat all over that thing.

I think we could keep it away from the stove, we have a very long counter on both side of the kitchen - so I'm not worried about that too much for us. However, I don't like the idea of it being tied only to Key Ingredient. If that site ever goes down or they stop supporting their API or whatever, there would be no way to update the device. If it had a desktop app or some other way to push changes to it, I think I'd be all over it.

A printer really is your best bet.  Get a laser and not an ink jet.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

FWIW, I use my iPhone if I need a recipe that I don't have in one of my cookbooks.

Call me old school, but I really like having a crusty old copy of Joy of Cooking that just falls open to the cornbread page on its own because of all of the times I've made it, or seeing a little blob of dried dough on the biscuit page. It reminds me of being in my mom's and grandma's kitchens as a girl.

Voodoo & Sauce - a blog.
The Legend of Zephyr - a different blog.

Only if you make your own paper and ink.

And this. I really do need to get a copy of that book. My worn old book from ze olde dayes is a Good Housekeeping. It rocked for me because it had all these illustrations to teach me what the hell to do, since my family was never big on cooking all fancy style.

Actually my cookbook was stolen, so my cousin gave me hers because she doesn't cook and all the stains and gobbets are from the last fifteen years only :)

Mine falls open to the Yorkshire pudding recipe. I can't for the life of me imagine why I can't keep the proportions of it straight given that I've been making it since I was a child, but I apparently can't.

If you can read this, you're on a board populated by misogynist assholes.

I'm using the Betty Crocker Cookbook, which is a three-ring binder for dummies.  I used it to make that great meatloaf... not that I stick to recipes like glue or anything.  Computer actually in the kitchen seems like overkill, just keeping recipes somewhere is all I really need.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

In case anyone is curious, I bought my wife a Dell Mini 10v and will be giving it to her tonight. We have 2 weeks before we can return it for a refund of some sort.

Cool - make sure you pick up a 2GB SODIMM for under $30 at NewEgg - installation is retarded easy.
