That's right, the next version of Championship Manager (a football soccer management sim) is offering the downloadable version released on Sept. 10th for whatever you want to pay for it. Actually, that's not quite true - you have to pay a 1 pence and a £2.50 (total of £2.51) transaction fee, but you can also choose to give them as much as you want for the game or none at all beyond that £2.51. Really. It's only the downloadable version, but I went ahead and ordered it yesterday - they apparently don't restrict US users from pre-ordering. The cost in US dollars appears to have been $4.14 total. Might be worth a look if you are interested in a management sim.

Holy crap- I will have to check that out. Can you send them money later if it doesn't suck, or do you have to set your price up front?

Does the Set Your Price Version have CM Season Live? That's a dealbreaker right there and the order page implies it doesn't.

CM Live is an extra £5 - so would probably bring the total to more like $12-$15, which is still a goddamn steal.

You do realise Champ Manager is only the name now and is total shit? Football Manager 2010 is out in October, wait for that.

I imagine you could always buy it again for a different amount...

I haven't played it. But you know, for $4, I'll take a chance that it's total shit.

Finally downloaded and started playing this. I've never played this game, and only played the demo for Worldwide Soccer Manager 2009 (Football Manager for you Brits).

I like it, but it definitely misses some of the things WSM had. The main thing it's missing is the advice and questions from your coaching staff. It's just not there, and it was a feature I liked in WSM. I like the 3D match engine better than what was in WSM. Still, it's worth putting time into for the $4 I put into it, at least until FIFA 10 comes along in October.

Well played.  I too am waiting until October.
