Cross Edge (abbreviated as XEdge or X-Edge), is an RPG developed by Capcom, Nippon Ichi, Namco Bandai, Gust, and Idea Factory. Released September 25, 2008 in Japan, the game features turn-based battles, a plot that involves rescuing souls, and the ability to dress the female characters of the player's party in a wide variety of outfits. The game features characters from Darkstalkers, Disgaea, Ar tonelico, Spectral Souls, Atelier Marie and Mana-Khemia 2. NIS America published the game in North America, and it was released for that region on May 26, 2009. Sounds very interesting but Metacritic score was pretty low (47) with no individual review over 60. I've not heard much about it and I'm curious at how it plays so did anyone pick it up? |

I considered it but I got the feeling it went down the Ar Tonelico ho-team path and would be more tits-n-ass than gameplay, plus I'm not sure about these cross-title fan-service jobs. Although I'm a fan of Capcom, N1 and Gust (the game developer), I was suspicious.

Yes.
Well, not right now. I lent it to Phildo. I only lasted 20 minutes with it. Combat is a wreck. Phildo lasted an hour. He can probably elaborate more.

Yeah, I figured as much. Will probably buy it of EBay or when I'm in over the Atlantic since it doesn't look like it will have an European release. Kind of off-topic but: Are there any good, big games stores in San Fransisco/LA? I'll be going there soon and I want to pick up some occult JRPGs and whatnot that never reached Europe. |
