Trying to care... Failing.
A hardcore old school RPG on the Wii. Sure. That will happen.

And it already did. Fire Emblem is a Nintendo title and ridiculously mediocre, much like Baten Kaitos. As for Dragon Warrior - obvious choice is obvious. Considering IX is on the DS, X being on the Wii only makes sense. Anyone still playing Dragon Quest doesn't care about quality anyway. Series is The Suck.

Eh. 8 was actually a ton of fun even with it being obnoxiously simplistic in story.

All I could see with DQ8 was the grind. The game wanted me to grind before even finishing the first sub boss. Maybe it got better, but it was an obnoxious introduction to what looked like a charming game.
I'm hoping reviews of this mention a diversion from this staple of the series. They were pretty upfront about it with DQ8.

It never got better. The series has always been a grindy pain in the ass. Which is something that suits young children better than, well, anyone else. Other than the Japanese.

May you end up at a furry convention after hours with no pants on. For you there can be no redemption for this heresy.

Really, my taste in games lines up with yours probably the least amount of anyone else on the website. I have more in common with WUA in terms of gaming. It's only fitting that you would be offended by me calling shit shit.

Whats so shitty about it providing a classic gamestyle experience? Should the DQ series be praised for its lack of innovation? No. But there is something to say about a game giving people what they want besides the little niche companies.
Of course most of your ire comes from it being Wii and not your beloved Sony.
The DS slammed the PSP. The Wii violated the PS3. Hell, there have been weeks MICROSOFT has sold more consoles IN JAPAN than the PS3 did.
Thankfully your high tech money is no object buy buy buy mentality has been properly curbstomped by the people. And you can't handle it. Hence why you scream, whine, cry, and bitch every time a game ends up on a Nintendo system over Sony's overpriced suck machines nobody wants, especially in this economy.
You don't really hate Dragon Quest. You hate that its Dragon Quest ON A NINTENDO SYSTEM.
It has grind? You really like Disgaea which has more grind in one game than all 4 NES Dragon Quests do combined!

You don't really hate Dragon Quest. You hate that its Dragon Quest ON A NINTENDO SYSTEM. Are you retarded? I hadn't bought a Dragon Quest since the first on the NES up until VIII on the PS2 just to see if anything had changed, it hadn't. Was still shit. I lasted all of 2 hours playing that god awful thing. It has grind? You really like Disgaea which has more grind in one game than all 4 NES Dragon Quests do combined! I like the tactics, humor, dialogue, and writing - not the grind. The grind in those games goes above and beyond necessary gameplay anyway. In DQ you HAVE to grind to succeed. You don't have to in Disgaea - any of them. I waltzed through Disgaea 2 with almost zero effort and only played the first board of the dark world to level up new lv. 1 toons really quickly. Edit: Seriously, this has nothing to do with the Sony/Nintendo thing. You can pin that on a lot of things, but the DQ hate? No, unfortunately not. You just look frothing crazy in this case.

I think DW7 on PS1 was my last console RPG before I really got into WoW. What a pile of crap DW7 was... I put in roughly sixty hours on it, only to find that I was maybe 1/3 of the way through the game. That shit was cool back in the late 80s when I was a teenager and didn't have anything else to do. But I just don't have time for it now. Now, back to grinding some foozles in WoW.

You just didn't like DQ8 because it was on a SONY system. I beat Disgaea 2 with mid 40s characters.
