Micheal Jackson is going to make a fortune from that one. I'd rather see Zeppelin.

Done along the GHWT model so that I can sing and play "Rocky Raccoon" at the same time?  Yes please.

I haven't forgiven the GH franchise for the whole Rock Band controller thing on the PS3, so they could make a Guitar Hero: Fellatio, and I wouldn't buy it.

Why would you blame Guitar Hero for that? Makes no sense.

Just about a year ago Harmonix was going to distribute a patch to allow the GH3 peripheral to work for Rock Band on the PS3. Activision had Sony reject the patch, arguing that it violated their intellectual property. Activision wanted a cut of the action.

I don't doubt it was within their rights to do so - but it's also within my rights to interprit that as a petty extorsionist stunt that hurts the genre, and does not earn my repeat business.

That went both ways. MTV and Harmonix were dicks about new GH stuff with Rock band stuff.

The new Rock Band and Guitar Hero are completely cross compatible as far as instruments go. It was in no way a one-sided thing and wherever you read the details, you didn't get the full story.

Really? I remember only Activision holding the bag.

Except for being a little muddy about Sony's role in publishing patches for the PS3, this Boston Globe article seems to have it the way I remember it going down: http://www.boston.com/business/technology/articles/2007/12/20/standoff_hits_a_sour_chord_with_gamers/?page=1

What did I miss about MTV/Harmonix?

That's mildly ironic. I suppose sometimes even the M in MTV stands for Music.

Lame.

It's not going to be like the AC/DC "game". No way to play the songs in Rock Band.

Completely new Beatles game, based on the Rock Band foundation but without the Rock Band name in the title, announced during the conference.

Weird. I mean, I "get it," but it's still weird.

Its The Beatles.  I'm certain that part of the negotiations required that they have their own IP instead of 'Rock Band: The Beatles' or 'Guitar Hero: Beatle Mania.'  Otherwise, they're secondary to the already popular titles.  For egotistical and legal reasons, it makes more sense.  If it doesn't get teen rating for ludicrous amounts of drug references, it will be a waste.  I want talking flowers and melting fret boards.  Newspaper taxis, etc.
