I am exact opposite. I don't accumulate shit I don't need and I am first one to share. I always let my accounts rot when I quit and I always share things I don't immediately need.
Eternity is a very long time, especially towards the end.
Sold a few thousand dollars worth of characters/plat in EQ. Each time I quit, I sold off everything and yet I still kept coming back. I think the count was a lvl 30 druid to Yantis very early in the game. Sold it to Yantis when he was just getting his operation off the ground. He played on my server. Then I sold a 68 monk with an epic and pretty decent gear. The last time I played was mainly to just have fun with twinks and play the Bazaar. Turned a 10k plat loan into 300K+. Sold it. This cash helped me get through my undergrad degree living only on student loans and no job after my Freshman grades torpedoed my scholarships (thank you UO!).
I think I've bought some gold in UO once after it got all hyper inflated. It was really cheap anyhow.
I did minor sales in other games, but nothing really sticks out in my mind. I stopped selling once it became more heavily policed and moved to the realm of the gold farmers. Plus, my dinner choices aren't limited to ramen, mac & cheese, or chili anymore.
