Wordpress Plugin Help: RSS Feed Displays

I'm trying to find a good plugin for Wordpress that's good for displaying RSS feeds from other sites that you can display on your front page in a static frame and not as new articles.  Ultimately I'd like to see something where it displays the latest item in an abbreviated fashion and the older items as subject titles only.

I havn't been able to find much, and the ones I have found didn't work the way I was imagining.  Anyone have any experience with anything that might fit what I'm looking for?

What I've usually done is just find some php script that parses rss feeds and done a php include of the script.  That way you can customize what displays and add any css tags to fit it in with your theme.
