I just picked up this from PSN.  if you liked the original this one feels pretty damned close.  plus its fun to shoot down planes, and tanks, and automobiles in HD.  It is a tad short, but its more about overcoming the challenge then about beating the game.

Well, keep in mind that I stopped playing them long long ago. I'm sure all sorts of shiny awesome things came out after I stopped playing arcade games back in the Renaissance.

It's up there for me, but not as high as Galaga, Time Pilot, and Rampage.

I think I stopped going to arcades around 1992.

You are my hero. I owned a Time Pilot cabinet 7-8 years ago. The game lasted 1 year before it went kaput.

(I'd swap out Galaga for Gauntlet, but the others are dead on).

I hated Gauntlet as a kid, the constantly declining health seemed like an obvious quarter farming scheme.

RED GIANT NEEDS FOOD BADLY.

I still say that all the time. But that's from Gauntlet legends.

Oh, absolutely. But the narrator was awesome.

Dungeon Explorers and SmashTV did the sub-sub-subgenre better, but Gauntlet was the first
