So I finally got around to giving this thing a run, only to find that it crashes approximately every minute on my 8800. So instead of a BiiF, we have a quick question here to see if anyone has managed to run it on a modern PC?

It's a hyperthreading issue. None of the Thief games like it, and it's a fairly complicated hack to fix, but this is the place to learn how to do it.

Now I need someone like Trippy or CMLancas to tell me WTF the second option here

means in English, and if it's what I want to do to my computer.

The second option is a hack for the game files that forces them into single processor mode when running instructions. It shouldn't do anything to your computer since it's only being run on the files and doesn't make any changes to your system. After you make the change the game should work transparently.

Yeah, I think Murgos's link about covers it. Also, isn't there a way in control panel->advanced properties->.... to turn off a core and only run single core?
