If any of you haven't read it, I thoroughly recommend Fraser's Quartered Safe Out Here, which relates his experiences as a private during the Burma campaign in World War 2. It's not a book to learn the grand sweep of events, but rather one to find out what it was actually like to be there on the ground. It's one of those books that is so engaging it's hard to put down.

And if you haven't read the Flashman series, well then, there's no hope for you.
