I've been a big fan of Gamefly ever since I signed up a couple of years ago, and I've recommended it heartily to all the poor schmucks I know who spend 60 bucks a pop on games they play for 3 days and then stick in a closet to wither and die.  But in the last few months their inventory has gone completely to shit.  I understand I'm not going to get games on launch day.  I don't expect to and it doesn't bother me.  But my patience has limits.  This is the top of my queue, and it hasn't fundamentally changed in over a month.

For those not in the know, anything other than 'Available Now' means you're not going to get it, regardless of what their FAQ spiel says.  That availability is bullshit.  I'm not paying them 35 bucks a month so I can wait until fucking March 2008 to play Gears of War.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

I haven't returned my netflix in about 3 years.  Imagine if I had Gamefly.

I tried them again recently and had the same experience. I had like 10 games in my queue and got the very bottom DS game I didn't care that much about. That happened for 3 cycles or so and then I cancelled.

Try Gamerang.

I've been using them about 3 or 4 months now. Their inventory seems pretty solid, though again, you won't get new releases for at least a week or two. The only problem I have with them is they are about a day slower shipping stuff than the last service I was with (Gotta Play).

F13 should really just pioneer one of those 'game swap' rings where you can borrow games from members of the community itself.  We could have a library of everything anyone was willing to trade, and we'd just keep track of it all - hell you could almost do it on the honor system if it's only extended to trusted community members.

If you trust each other that is.  There is no honor among thieves.

I tried out Gamefly about a year ago, and cancelled after 2 months.  I didn't have problems getting the games I wanted (I suspect they push games towards new members in favor of long-time subscribers, another stupid way to alienate your most loyal users), but I did have shit like 2 and a half week turn around times and either just me not receiving games they sent out or them not receiving games I sent back.  I've gotta figure that either there's mass theft going on at the post office (doubtful, considering Netflix and BBO don't seem to have these problems) or their system sucks.

I'm more likely to believe that their system sucks.

The problems did not start until they opened up their new shipping facility on the east coast.

My queue looks very similar, but they always manage to get me a game out without any down time so i cant complain too much.  It might not be something at the top of my queue but i plan on playing most everything on there at some point.  Besides the longer you wait the cheaper the keep it price is when they ship it to you, and for me thats the real benefit of their service.

I tried Gamefly for a second time a few months back and canceled it before my trial was even up.  My first two games took over a week to reach me (both were available when I choose them), one of them didn't work and I sent it back the same day.  It took me almost two weeks to receive a replacement and that didn't work either so I reported it damaged as well.  Then when I didn't return the damaged disk fast enough (my account was still active at this point) I received an e-mail from them informing me they had billed my credit card $50 for keeping the game.

So I of course replied to that with a polite "Screw your slow shipping and bad support, the game is already in the mail, please cancel my account and refund the money for the game."  (Paraphrased, but that was the general idea of it.)  The money was refunded and I will likely never take a second look at Gamefly again.

I am tempted to try Gamerang though, I'd never heard of it before but it has a shipping facility less then a two hour drive from where I live.

I was actually looking to start a gamefly account in the next few days because I have a laundry list of games I would like to play through, but not nearly enough funds to buy them all. I'm going to give gamerang a try and see how it works out.

I tried another service called Rentzero because they had a shipping location in Texas, but it had the same problems everyone is complaining about here. I made the mistake of putting like 60 games in my que and it seemed to just randomly select a game anywhere in the list and send it to me and even though they were shipping from within Texas it still took between 3 to 5 days each way for transit. I had to email them about 3 of the 6 games I received to get them to actually send the next item on my list and overall I didn't receive a single "Top tier game" newish game.

I'll try and remember to post again after a couple of months on gamerang.

You'll get my originals if you pry them from my cold, dead hands.

I'm still mourning over my Ultima Anthology that i lent somebody and never got back.

I love you folks, but my games are my babies. Never again!  DRILLING AND MANLINESS
