Couldn't find a relative topic, so I made one. http://www.gametrailers.com/player/28633.htmlIt's so... . Apparently it's up on XBL/PSN now as well, which is great. It will be interesting to see if they take a step back from the massive scope of San Andreas to create the more developed Liberty City, but the trailer hits all the right notes. Going to be a long 4 months.

Looking forward to it. Can't say I'm in love with graphics, there's a lot of that glowy crap I don't like.
I hope they have some decent customization options like in San Andreas. Would be a shame if that was left behind.

And then hopefully in ten months for the pc...
This should be the best pc version yet due to the fact it will FINALLY not be developed primarily for the damned PS2. Still gimpy compared to AAA pc titles, but it should be some good goddamned gaming. The previous few have been some of my very favorites despite the PS2 compromises.

I find it pretty funny all of the comments in the thread on that page that are slamming the quality of the graphics. Do they not remember the stellar 5 polygon faced girlfriends we had in San Andreas?

Every Rock Star Studio has sucked balls at graphics since Day 1. It's simply not something to expect from them. It's not a knock at this point, we're way past that - it's simply the reality of it.
Ping Pong was a one time fluke that needed no optimization because there was only so much on the screen at once.

Grand Theft Auto IV is going for a more gritty, realistic, and mature story and execution than the previous games. As such, "games should be art" freaks like me will be overjoyed while the Halo 3 spastic bunny hopper who just wants to jump in cars and run over prostitutes will buy this game and start cursing that Rockstar sucks now.

After the cell shaded graphics of Crackdown GTA IV looks like complete ass. I couldn't get into San Andreas either, maybe I'm going to start giving these as pass.

Well, you might prefer the cell-shaded style, in the same way a player prefers the stylized WoW look versus to the EQ2 look, and (considering beauty is in the eye of the beholder) there's really nothing wrong with that. However, so far as technical achievement of competently created graphics are concerned, I see nothing wrong with GTA 4.

There have been a lot of clones, many with better graphics, many with cool game mechanics (crackdown, spider-man, assassin's creed), but no one has trumped Rockstar in overall vision, scope, and mission design. I've given many a try and it's just amateur hour compared to them. They give you a ton of things to do, and for the most part, they make it all pretty amusing, and sometimes brilliant. They also have the cash to hire the likes of James Woods and Sam Jackson.

Nod. I look forward to this. Though I'm town between Release day 360 and waiting an extra year for the PC.
Maybe I should try to finish SA in the meantime....

I was pleased to see there are still black people. It's just not GTA if there isn't Ebonics and thug life.

I always wonder why all those idiots crying about that racist game never cried about those poor Italians stereotyped in former GTA games. Or, as I suspect the poor Russians in the new game according to the trailer.

I watched the new trailer on my 62" HD TV over XBOX Live last night before I posted that. It's not a matter of preference. GTA IV, when scaled up to that level, looked like blocky, poorly colored and sketchily animated ass. In the trailer you linked it looks much better, however it was also about 45 inches smaller and much more edited with quick cuts of what are probably the better vistas.

When I see any iteration of GTA, all I can see is developers praying on the wallets of suburban white kids who listen to rap and try their hardest to be black. Or Asian. White kids that drive Civics with huge fart can exhausts, table top spoilers, stickers galore, and racing seats in a car that does the quarter in 16 seconds.
Goddamn, I've been in a cynical mood lately....

I was pleased to see there are still black people. It's just not GTA if there isn't Ebonics and thug life. I think there was all of one black guy in GTA3 and Vice City. And it was the same guy in both games. The "thug life" thing was actually a pretty sharp change of thematic direction for the series since the previous games tended toward more "old world" organized crime. The fact that people retroactively project it onto the earlier games is a testament to how wildly popular GTA:SA was, I guess. As for GTA 4, looks shiny, but I was a bit displeased that so much of the gameplay footage showed gunplay rather than high speed vehicle chases. THE ON FOOT STUFF IS THE WEAKEST PART OF GTA. MORE VROOM VROOM, LESS BANG BANG, K?

I guess it's an EBStop thing. Ask Schild to explain it to you. Launch day of any GTA game results in an influx of whiggers and thugs. I remember the year EB went on an ESRB crusade and I had to tell this kid he couldn't buy GTA:SA cause he wasn't old enough. His reaction was something along the lines of "Fuck you nigga! This is whack shit. Motherfucker!" and he stormed out. I didn't know if I should laugh or check with everyone else to make sure he was white.

Black people and wiggers love GTA and Madden. It's that simple. Sure, a lot of hardcore gamers buy it. But nothing compares to the eastern seaboard influx of those two minorities. I absolutely loved working those nights because it was absolutely haywire. And because everyone carried cash. And because we had 3-4 cops outside the store and another 1 or 2 in the store. I worked in an EBStop in Prince George's County, MD. If you think this statement is somehow racist, please to be looking up demographic of PG County.
