the opportunity for evil is just delicious

I was disappointed by his other collaborations, and I know he's only half-written the last Modest Mouse CD, but Marr is still a guitar god for me.

Smiths star made music professor

Quote
The Manchester-born musician will deliver a series of workshops and masterclasses to students on the BA Popular Music and Recording degree... John Sweeney from the university's school of media, music and performance said Marr was "a revered guitarist and composer" who was held "in the highest esteem by many of his fellow performers".

This is not so odd. Brian May finished his doctorate in Astrophysics in the Summer. Good to see some former celebs not spending their time on the Surreal Life.  Makes me feel motivated to get something done.

Salford!  That's where all the pervy lads go!  Good for him.  I read the bit about Brian May a while back and thought that was very very cool.  It's always nice when your heroes prove they're more interesting than you would expect.

PS  God, I hated The Smiths.

I want to be in a field where I can walk away from my thesis for 21 years, come back, and the science is still novel.  Not to knock May's intellect, but if he weren't a rock god, there's no chance in hell that any advisor would let someone come back and re-submit a dissertation after that long.
