I used to love this game so much when I was a little kid. I am really excited to be able to play this on Xbox Live. Also, it seems they are Rereleasing the board game version around the same time.

I love me some Talisman.

The real question is which version it will be based off of, the original, or the "Deluxe Games Workshop 2nd Edition Retard Version!!!".

(I'm not a big fan of how GW likes to rerelease dumbed down versions of thier games)

Friends and I paid over $170 on ebay to get the original with 3 expansions a couple years ago. Worth every penny.

Well, the new one is being done by their Black Industries imprint (formerly Black Library) who are much less ..fucked than GW proper. Kind of like Forgeworld.

Here's their Talisman page. The preview artwork looks much more generic Fantasy/D&D as Talisman 1 and 2 were, rather than Warhammer Fantasy Talisman 3rd edition (with big plastic dragon). - you're confusing your editions slightly. I still have my 2nd Ed version, and I think the Timescape (nascent 40k) expansion which sucked somewhat in the box with it.

Interested in the new reprint, but..

We'll see.

The interesting thing about this is that it will emphasize just how little interation there is in Talisman.  When it comes down to it, rolling a die and moving clockwise or counterclockwise is about 90% of what you do in that game.

Not if you played with the sadistic bastards I did. It never failed that our group's most anti-social PK'ers drew classes like the Chaos Warrior and I was always stuck with the friggin Ranger making a beeline for the Forest so I could get the hell away. A bit frustrating at times, and the game took waaaay too long to play with six or seven people but very fun.

Yes, but ultimately being able to attack someone came down to "Oh good, I managed to roll the number I needed to land on your space".  The number of actual choices, particularly INTERESTING choices, are very small in Talisman.  And I've come to discover through my journeys in board games that interesting choices are ultimately what mostly make a game fun..
