id released the source code of DOOM and Quake. No .wads, though.

DOOM, Heretic, and Hexen were a little before my time, so I've relied on compilations (and friends) for my .wads. Best bet is just buying the Collector's Edition of DOOM. Dirt cheap and has what you need to get jDOOM up and running. I believe I even saw it for sale at id's website.

As for the megawads and similar stuff...you're on your own. They're around. Team TNT still has a site somewhere. I was just there recently, but didn't bookmark it (like a dimbulb). Regardless, there are links on both Newdoom, Doomsday, etc. Supposedly, TNT has a BOOM (or ZDOOM, forget which) engine-only .wad in the making (Eternal DOOM 4, I guess).

One word of warning: I've been very particular in what megawads I"m willing to play. There is a LOT of garbage out there. Some pretty good stuff though. Still, some good stuff has an evil streak. I've got one megawad on file that starts out simply outstanding, then mutates into a...well...just unbelievalbe demon wave attacks. Makes the Suburbs look like a ice cream social. It's interesting--the first few times--but running around trying to fool demons into blasting each other isn't an end game scenario I like.

Still playing Shadowbane. Mines are fun and provide a lot of small-scale PvP, banes are finaly painless enough that you are not SOL if you loose your city.

Eternity is a very long time, especially towards the end.

I love LoTR but MEO will probably suck -- however I am also keeping an eye on that one.

"Middle-Earth Online," or MEO (pronounced MEE-oh), was slated for release in November. But Turbine, best known for its Asheron's Call multiplayer online games, has pushed the date back to the fall (northern hemisphere autumn) of 2005, convinced that it can use the extra time to turn what is already a good game into a great one, according to spokesman Jason Wonacott.

Looks like you'll be waiting another year.

I actually logged back into CoH yesterday and this afternoon at lunch. Finally got myself to 20 over on Victory.

Also, still popping my head in the battlegrounds on DAoC. Level 24 Scout on Pellinor now.

And of course, still trying to win a game of ESPN NFL 2k5 on the X-Box.
