Did anyone else see that show on cable on Saturday night on Internet Addictions?  It was documentary style and I can't remember which channel (Google-fu is failing me.)  I was actually watching it out of the corner of my eye while playing WoW.  wink

They covered gambling, pron, gaming, dating, stalking, id theft, suicide clubs, etc.  You name it, they covered it.

Anyway, during the gaming part they covered "Everquest."  They called it Everquest, but it was EQII.  They also said that over 3 million play it.  Where did that come from?  They even had Smedley interviewed saying how sorry he was that a mom's son killed himself after locking himself in his apartment for 3 days doing nothing but playing.  He went on to say that he probably would have killed himself anyway, it didn't have anything to do with the game itself.

I did like the part that showed a couple that got paid to act like pre 13 year olds to capture pedo's over the net.  They basically took it to where they got the RL meeting setup and then turned it over to the cops.  I suppose it is like that Dateline series that does much the same.

Anyone else see this??!

No, I was also playing WoW  tongue.  I was re-watching season 4 of the Sopranos out of the corner of my eye instead.

I was provoking earth elementals in Shame.

Sounds like an interesting show - I'm sure it'll pop up on a torrent somewhere, or on google video proper. What's the exact name of the show? I'll snoop around a bit.

Sounds like they averaged EQ2's sub numbers with WoW's or something like that?  They were probably more concerned with MMOGs as a whole than with getting the details right on a particular MMOG.

It was an E special thingy; True Hollywood Story or some such thing.  It is an old documentery, made when EQ was still God.

And I believe the quote was about how 3 million people play online games, not just EQ.  Yes, it was everquest.  Not EQ2.

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

It seemed newer than that, but I could be wrong.  I saw a snip of it again yesterday after I got off work.  I didn't get a chance to catch the name or channel again though!!  This is going to haunt me forever now.  undecided

It seemed like they added even more to it though.  They were telling a different story for the suicide portion.  This time it was a young boy that hung himself.  It almost makes me think this is an ongoing show.

I don't suppose you looked into Scott's IP by any chance?  That HAS to be one of the regulars pulling our legs.

And no, his IP doesn't match up [to anyone].

If it does though, that person should email me.

Aww, Scott's posts always brought a smile to my face. All four of 'em, at least.

Yeah I thought he was a regular too that was just trying to be funny or something.

But since he might attract the real thing I guess it's not wrong to ban now.

Banning is always a sketchy business.  You never know when someone will bring in a heavy hitter.
