I meant the monitor actually spins. New shooters have a vertical arrangement, while most other genres and old shooters are horizontal.

Schild, can you further explain the "sliding monitor" thing? I don't even see anywhere for that monitor to slide 'to the right'. Why would you even need to move it for a shooter anyway?

He meant "rotating" monitor (though you have to slide before you can rotate it). Shooters like Galaga are typically setup in "portrait" mode.
