Really how many people have to mess with nature before you realize that getting intimate with (insert name of creature) is a bad idea.

And the "This hug is the most sincere one that I have received in my life." is just a............. no comment from me.

Love your animals, just don't love your animals. Especially ones that could eat you in one sitting.

Yup, some day that lion is going to have a bad hair day and rip her head off.

There was a time in this community when this post would have been peppered with a few oddly worded semi-defenses of this.  The Great Purges, alas, have done away with that.

Sigh, if this IS the same story about the lion who recognises her rescuer and cuddles her, then, yes, I can see what kinda strides this makes for animal lovers everywhere and those who think animals aren't just put on this earth to serve us and be eaten.

HOWEVER :

Please to reference the many, many useless threads where people have assumed friendship with animals and paid the price :  The most recent one I can remember is the man and his best friend, Mr Boa Constrictor, who decided one day that he wasn't a scarf and would choke the living shit out of his 'owner and buddy' because he was hungry.

This lion is only 2 hours hunger away from cracking her skull like an egg for the tasty sweetmeats inside and you ought to fucking know it.

I don't think he was referencing those kind of animal lovers.

Could be wrong though.

I think we're all being too rough on the lady.  Maybe she just finds it comforting to know how she's going to die ahead of time.

I'm with Ironwood here. Its nice and all, and heart warming, to see a rescued animal express affection. But I'd never take my chances like that again. That is a wild animal. You switch deoderant brands, for example, and next thing you know you're headless.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

f13.net: Are You On The List?

Wait, that one's already taken.

Re: animals, I will say that I'd put a lot more stock in a lion's ability to be friendly than a boa constrictor's.  I'm pretty sure that boa never thought of its owner as anything more than a warm thing to lie on until it worked out that he might also be a warm thing that could be eaten.

No it puts the lotion on it's skin, or it gets the hose again!

Anyways, its great she feels that comfortable around that lion. I've read too much Capstick to think about doing something that stupid.

The one where the guy gets eaten by the "tame" wild beast he'd raised from a cub.

While I have a little more faith in the lion than a boa, they both fail the shrink ray test. Anything that would eat/kill you if you were shot with a shrink ray and reduced to being one inch tall should be regarded as a deadly enemy and treated as such. So pretty much the only animals I'd trust are My neighborhood's dogs and possibly our neighbor's cat. The cat however is still highly suspect. Also, as far as groundhogs, I'm indifferent. Beavers seem affable, though that might be due to their favorable portrayal in the media.
