Also, note the FF11 Taru Taru race. I wonder if Blizzard/Square will actually bother to sue. Good 2d art though.

Why does it say WoW in the upper left corner? Is this a mod? Site's not really working for me (too much Flash crap) so I can't check it out for myself.

Left side is Korean Warcraft.  Right side is Korean game imitating Warcraft wholesale.

Here is an image of a Goblin on the left which is taken from GamesWorkshop.  On the right is the goblin designed by Blizzard.  Be pretty hypocritical for Blizzard to care that someone else is copying Gamesworkshop artwork.

If that's from WHO the Blizzard one came first, though of course the entire Warcraft series was clearly inspired by the WH tabletop miniatures.

The blizzard one didn't come first in this case.  You could say that Blizzard digitally drew that before Mythic did.  But Mythic doesn't invent *any* Gamesworkshop material.  That is a standard goblin image that has been in use since before 5th Edition Warhammer, or Warcraft 1, and that is the image GW approved for use with WAR (or WHO if you are taken with out of date game acronyms, like MEO  smiley).

I'm not trying to split hairs, just point out something a lot of people simply don't know or care about in reiteration that it would be silly for Blizz to be upset about someone using their 'art'.

Yes that's what I said. Did you even read what I wrote? And "WAR" is not an acronym.

Which one do you guys think will stick: WHO or WAR? I mean seriously. I thought this debate was dead and buried.

Oops my bad. Then it should be WOAR, as it's spelled out in giant letters on the top of the Web site, but obviously Mythic likes WAR so I'm that cool with that.

Edit: Actually "WOAR" is not right either. It should be WHOAR. Yes I know "Warhammer" is one word, lower case h, but everybody uses "WH" as the acronym for that and its derivatives/name variations.

Yes I'm leaving out the "of" like Mythic is doing, even though they put it in in "DAoC".

The game attains a whole new level of childish amusement if you say WHOAR out loud.  More fun than I expect the game itself will turn out to be.

I like using WAR, because war is kind of the point of the game.

Warhammer Online Age of Reckoning was never officially called "WHO" by Mythic, it was just an unofficial early community term (For War Hammer Online.  Before Age of Reckoning was added on, which signifies the particular launch, similar to Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall. Warhammer is one word, not two. This was corrected by Gamesworkshop/Mythic a long time ago now.  Here is what Sanya said about it:

Quote
WHO? WAR? WHAT?!

I've been seeing some people use the acronyms WHO and WAR interchangably. When I delicately offer correction, I get a shrug and a "potayto potahto" reply.

First of all, it's totally pronounced "POTAYTO."

Second: WHO does not belong to us as a trademark and wasn't approved by GW, so I won't use it.

Third: Warhammer is one word, anyway!

Fourth: WAR is much cooler. Would you rather tell your mate that you're going to go play WHO for two hours and waste precious game time getting into a terrible Abbott and Costello routine, or say you're going to play WAR for two hours?

PS- I never said WAR was an acronym, it isn't.  It's a buzzword.  I said that WHO was an out of date acronym similar to MEO.  The official buzzwords are WAR & LotRO, of which the latter sucks but it's what Tolkein Enterprises dished out.

I don't care, I call the thing what I first heard it as typically.  Sometimes I convert, as I call it WAR now, instead of WHO.  Sometimes I don't.  Could say the same of others who don't have the stomach to up and say it themselves..

The appropriate response here is, "touche", but I know that's asking too much for some people.

Bring on the WoW clones.

If Korea wants to make WoW clones, that's a damn of a lot better then the normal Lineage clones they've been doing for eons.

Yeah, I still call some games by goofy names. BG2: SoA = (phonetically) Big2Soah. Icewind Dale games = Windy Dale.

I'll just continue to use WAR, thanks.
