Does anybody use the previous and next buttons at the bottom of each topic page? They are messing up Google and I wanted to get rid of them.

The only place I have ever used the 'previous next' buttons is in online comics to catch up with missed episodes.  Back in 95 or 96 the damned things were everywhere, now they are mostly extinct, farewell to an era.

lol we have those?  Kill them...

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

I don't notice them myself.

Then again, at this point my post is essentially postcount++, but I can live with that.

I accidentally used them a couple times when I thought they might be prev/next page within a single thread.

Worthless.

I click on them when I forget that they don't take me to the next page of the same thread.  F13 is not some place you want to go to a thread you don't know anything about beforehand, so I always back up a level and look at the titles.

The buttons are misleading.  They allow you to click on them, even if there are no other pages.  Hello Kitty

Wow, turns out they don't even do what I thought they did.

Now they seem faintly sinister.

No wait!  I used them!

Just kidding.  Like everyone else I either misused them or found out that I didn't care a bout the next thread.

Witty banter not included.

You should leave them in just to spite Google.  All their hundreds of PhD's flailing about, stumped by two little words on a web page, I like it.

No, it's not their fault, they are finding those links just fine and in fact are using them as the links in their index and that's the problem. Where those links take you vary over time depending on factors I haven't bothered to figure out. It's like hitting the "New" button. Where it takes you changes depending on who you are and what you've done in the past. There are other links like those two that are screwing up Google as well like posts indexed via the "View the most recent posts on the forum" link but those will take more work to fix since I can't just remove them (well I could but that would probably annoy a lot of Guests).

Edit: typos

I only changed them in the default f13 theme since that's what the Google bot sees. I don't care about the other themes.

Like that time where I was 14 and I... but never mind that.
