Save me a few dollars. I've read it sucks, I'm sure it does :( Anyone tried it?

I just want StarFleet Battles the boardgame on the 360 dammit...

Haven't played it.  But I've read some fairly lengthy threads about it elsewhere, and opinion is unanimous that it blows.

I haven't played a Trek game since those adventure titles came out in the 90's. Didn't become a fan of the shows until fairly recently either. I've missed out on quite a bit (or not). Do any of the old strategy games stand out?

A quick Google tells me to get Bridge Commander. I'm not even sure if that would run well on XP (came out in 2002).

Squirrel - eventually you will get Culdcept on X360. Best digital board game EVER.

Also, the DS Star Trek ain't supposed to be all that bad.

That said, the Desperate Housewives game has achieved cult stats due to being the Sims with a storyline and sex/lesbian sex/etc.

Yeah, that's surprising (Housewives). If I had a housewife, I might get it.

Oh for fucks sake. My G/F is a huge sims and DH fan. The remotest chance that this would also make her a bi/lez curious fan just cost me $50. :P

Go buy Star Fleet Command (1 or 2. not the series killer that was 3). No, its not new any more so it is less shiney. Yes, it is Star Fleet Battles on the PC.

Here $10 on Amazon

Birth of the Federation is ownage if you want to play Star Trek Civ.  Came out in 1999 but runs fine for me on XP.

www.starfleetgames.com They have online versions of SFB and its simpler superior version Federation Commander (on the fly power allocation! No ECM! No ECCM!!) for some subscribed play thing.  Sadly it seems there aren't any Federation Commander players online whenever I would want to play.

Kzintis for the win dammit!  Angry sentient eating space kitties with Disruptors and Drone Racks.  Even if my damn Feddie playing friend seems to shoot most of them down before I get to him.

I live in FEAR of when Hydrans get an official release in FC.  Their betatest version is sick.  Fuck fighters right up their methane breathing asses.  10 point ships shouldn't have a 2 shot Fusion Beam and a Gatling Phaser.  angry

Yeah thanks, I did own both for a while but they were buggy and not enough multiplayer. But thanks, they were pretty close to what I want, just not quite there. Interplay fucked those titles over hard. I did enjoy them though. I just want that game done right on my 360 with 8 - 12 players please.

Hey cool thanks, I didn't know about this. Kzinti are cool, although I never flew them my buddy did. I used to be your stereotypical Klingon knife-fighter (fast ships with disruptors and better than average power are  Heart ). We used to play together against two other friends who both played Fed. Losta good fights, although eating a close range Fed alpha strike hurts like hell.

We outlawed Hydrans and Interstellar Consortium ships in general. Kzinti, Romulan, Klingon and Fed only.

Hey any idea when that might happen?

I noticed those guys don't exactly have the words "Star Trek" anywhere on their products. Are they just some private deal? What can and can't they use, if they don't really have the rights to the IP?

Huh. Maybe they should just update and port NetTrek to the 360. ;)

www.federationcommander.com explains it a bit better.  (Its their dedicated non SFB Starfleet Universe site.)

Basically they have some wonk ass liscense with Paramount they got based off of the old Starfleet Technical Manual.  Its only classic Trek and animated Trek stuff with a lot of their own things.  Its not true Star Trek.  Its better IMHO.  Lots of endless war and less silly Roddenberry Next Gen hyper liberal dreamland stuff.  (Not that Next Gen wasn't awesome, but its not a good wargames/RPG background.)

And what's wrong with ISC?  I love the ISC.  They kinda sucked in SFB and their betatest FC forces.  Plasma Torps blow ass.  (No point to them.  They never hit.  Ever.  Plasma Cannonades and making ships run away from you is their only use in duels.  Torps only work if you can get in range 1 after all weapons have been fired in a turn.  Overloaded Disruptors and Photons will kill you before you get there.  Which means unit tactics and some ship gets to be the bitch and die horribly.
